BCCA Proposals re: Scope of Practice Changes

In February 2026, the BC Chiropractic Association (BCCA) invited Doctors of BC’s feedback on two proposals it will advance to government to expand/amend chiropractic practice and scope. The proposed changes relate to:

  1. Publicly funded direct referral to radiologists by chiropractors for diagnostic imaging, and
  2. Needle stimulation and intra-muscular stimulation (IMS)

BCCA consulted physicians on these proposals and is committed to ensuring these proposed changes help enhance system capacity and meet the needs and expectations of family doctors, specialists, and patients. (See proposal details under BCCA Business Cases on this page.)

Input on the proposed changes gathered through our targeted engagement of specific Sections informed the our feedback to BCCA on behalf of physicians.
