Proposed Scope of Practice Changes Under Ministry of Health Review

This opportunity for input is now closed. Thank you to all who shared your feedback. What you told us informed our response to the Ministry of Health. Read our Submission to Ministry of Health's Scope of Practice of Regulated Health Professions Proposals

In March 2026, the Ministry of Health sought feedback on proposed changes to the scopes of practice of: pharmacists, physical therapists, registered midwives, optometrists, registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses, and audiologists

To inform our response to government, we asked for your physician perspectives on these proposals. We used your input to build on our existing physician-informed policy on Scope of Practice for Health Professionals (see sidebar)—the foundation of our ongoing responses to government and stakeholders on these matters.
