Strategic Planning (2024 - 2029) - Physician Leader Engagement

This consultation has concluded. Thank you to all who contributed your valuable input, which was shared with the Board and helped inform development of the new strategic plan.

As part of its work to develop a new strategic plan, the Board has had several good discussions about the overarching strategic direction of the Association.

Our current approach is responsive, in that we respond and react to changes proposed by government by helping our members understand those changes and advocate where there are concerns.

A proposed change in direction

In the new strategic framework, the Board is considering shifting our approach to position Doctors of BC to lead, rather than respond to, discussions about how we can change the health care system to benefit doctors and patients.

The proposed direction reflects:

  • Changes in the nature and role of the profession.
  • Consistent themes that have emerged from ongoing physician engagement; research on global and national health care trends; PEST (political, economic, social, and technological) and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analyses; and review and analysis of the core business functions of Doctors of BC.

The finalized strategic direction will influence the types of activities and initiatives Doctors of BC will undertake in the coming years.

We are seeking your input on this potential shift in strategic direction for the Association.

See more and share your thoughts on what your Board has proposed via the Forum below.

The deadline for input is September 15, 2023.

Your input will be included in materials for the September Board meeting.
